I'm planning my own wedding right now - it's my second wedding, and I thought this time around would be so simple. Man, was I wrong about that.
Part of the challenge is that Sarnia doesn't really have any outdoor wedding venues, or if they are there, they are limited in space. We want to have a party, a big one! But we also don't want to spend our life savings on the whole thing, which means that we're asking for the impossible.
My dream budget is $5000 for everything, including food, venue, dress, flowers, band. The band (Funk Eh!) is already booked, before we have the venue. We have our priorities :) $5000 is probably not going to happen with 150 people invited. In the dream, we get married on Brights Grove beach, have a glass of wine/champagne to celebrate, then head over to wherever the party is and get down to it! Oh - and all of this is a 1970s theme. We'll have one of the local caterers I like bring in some tapas and desserts, and we'll funk out until we're tired.
I really thought it wouldn't be stressful this time around LOL!! Weddings are, just by their nature, I guess. At least my dresses are within budget: my white, simple silk ceremony dress was $150 at Fashion Crimes in Toronto, and my other non-traditional sparkly party dress was $300 from a place on Queen St. Shoes were $40 from Shoe Dazzle :)
If I find some gems for planning weddings in the Sarnia area, I will post them here!! I sympathize with trying to plan on a budget, without eloping.
